Sales Cabinet at HCAC
As a member of the Howard County Arts Council (HCAC), the Guild has an assigned area available to display items for sale or commission. Guild members in good standing may contact the Sales Cabinet Coordinator regarding items they may wish to place in the display cabinet. Use of the cabinet and items given a spot in the cabinet are at the sole discretion of the Sales Cabinet Coordinator and/or the WGGB Board of Directors. The general public may purchase items from the sales cabinet by inquiring at the front desk during the HCCA normal hours of operation.
The sale and purchase of an item is handled by the HCAC, and 20% of the sale will be given to HCAC. The balance of 80% of the sale price will go to the seller as a check mailed directly to the seller from the HCAC (or via the Guild’s Sales Cabinet Coordinator if no address is provided).
In addition to physical items for sale, the display may include not-for-sale items and information for commission work. Commissions are not subject to the 20% going to HCAC.
HCAC Annual Maker Mart
The Howard County Arts Council sponsors an annual Maker Mart usually around the first Thursday in December. Guild members are welcome to sell items during this sale. No commission will be charged. Generally, members have found that less expensive items sell better during this sale.
Biennial Guild Member Sale
In even years, one of the monthly guild programs is dedicated to the Member Sale. Members may request a table and sell yarn, equipment, books & magazines, and finished products. No commission is charged.
Items submitted to Guild exhibits usually are eligible to be marked for sale. Depending on the venue, a commission may or may not be assessed.
