Program Overview
Discover the beauty of sashiko, a traditional Japanese stitching technique that blends utility with artistry. In this hands-on program, Natasha will teach us some basic sashiko techniques so that you can incorporate this centuries-old stitching method into your fiber arts.
She will introduce us to the most appropriate thread to use and what supplies you need. All materials Included. Just bring scissors and a sense of adventure!
About the Artist
Natasha Ibrahim is the owner of Local Stitch, a Baltimore-based small business specializing in fiber arts materials, botanical dyeing, weaving, and mending. A lifelong maker, Natasha began exploring fiber arts as a child when her grandmother first taught her to crochet. Her deep love for sewing, mending, and making has grown ever since. As an educator, she works to integrate contemplative practices into her classes, inviting students to experience the restorative and mindful nature of fiber arts.
