Tangible Donations to the Guild
We often are asked if the Guild accepts donations of looms, spinning wheels, yarn or other supplies. While there may be some items that we cannot take, we generally encourage donations for resale to our members. One of our key events is the biennial Guild Sale (held in odd years) where donations from members and non-members are auctioned off to raise funds for the Guild. These funds go towards providing programming and community outreach and contribute significantly to our limited budget.
If you are interested in making a donation, please contact wggb@wggb.org.
Monetary Donations to the Guild
As a 501c3 organization, the Guild accepts monetary donations that you may be able to use as a tax deduction. Your donations help support programs and other critical Guild activities.
Heifer International
WGGB began a tradition over 12 years ago of collecting loose change from members during its monthly meetings. The funds raised are used to purchase Knitters’ Baskets from Heifer International. Heifer’s mission is to end hunger and poverty by providing an investment of livestock or agriculture and then mentoring the communities to build a business. The Knitters’ Basket provides a llama, an alpaca, a sheep and an Angora rabbit – plus the training to ensure families know how to properly feed and care for the animals. The goal is to give recipients a source of income from the sale of clothing and blankets made from the wool. Since our tradition began, we have donated more than $2400 to Heifer! We love how we’re able to share what’s meaningful to us with others.
