Handweavers Guild of America
The WGGB is a member of HGA which is an “international not-for-profit organization dedicated to the fiber arts.” HGA publishes the magazine Shuttle, Spindle & Dyepot; copies may be found in the library. This organization also sponsors a biennial, week-long conference called Convergence during the even-numbered years.
MidAtlantic Fiber Association
MAFA represents approximately 45 Guilds, including WGGB, from eight states and the District of Columbia. Its goals are to promote education in the fiber arts; to plan, organize, and conduct conferences; and to facilitate communication among member Guilds. A key activity is the biennial MAFA Workshop Weekend that occurs every odd year so as not to compete with the HGA conference in even years. In recent years, the conference has been held in mid-June at Millersville University (PA). The conference brings in renowned weavers, spinners, dyers, and felt-designers as instructors. WGGB members are eligible for the discounted workshop member registration rate.
