COMING SOON – Workshop – Rigid Heddle Speed Warping, April 10-11, 2027

Participants will learn how to direct warp their loom in class and begin weaving their projects with guidance and demonstrations throughout the workshop. You’ll leave the workshop with a warped loom and weaving in progress. Weavers who choose a single heddle project to start with may even be able to finish weaving their first project and warp for a second project – especially the Quickie Scarf.

For all participants:
- Yarn selection for a rigid heddle looms.
- Direct warping a rigid heddle loom.
- Long warps for small workspaces.
- Calculating yardage requirements for projects.
- Introduction to drafts, drawdowns, and threading diagrams.
- Demonstration of using a warping board and how to get a pre-measured warp on a rigid heddle.
- Support, troubleshooting and encouragement.
- All the benefits of being in the same room with different weaving projects in progress.

Options for every level – the choice is yours:
Single Heddle Adventures
A - Quickie Scarf (probably best if you’re a beginner)
B - Intro to Color & Weave
C - Intro to Pattern with Pick Up Sticks

Double Heddle Adventures
A – Double your Sett
B – Patterning with a 2nd Heddle
C – Double Weave

Requirements: Participants should have some prior experience warping and weaving a loom (floor loom, table loom, or rigid heddle). This workshop is appropriate for:
- newer rigid heddle weavers looking to improve existing skills
- practiced rigid heddle weavers looking for new techniques
- multi-shaft loom weavers who want to experience what a rigid heddle loom can do.

Equipment Requirements:
- 1 rigid heddle in good working order with at least 8-10” weaving width.
- 1 or 2 rigid heddles at 7.5 epi or 8 epi spacing (10 epi ok). Double heddle projects require both reeds to be the same spacing (i.e. two 7.5 epi heddles or two 8 epi heddles)
- All warping and weaving tools and accessories you use such as warping pegs, threading hooks, clamps, stick shuttles, warp paper (or other warp separator – must be thin), paper towel tube, choke ties, measuring tape, etc.

Yarn Requirements:Yarn and yardage requirements vary depending on which project is selected. Additional information will be provided closer to the workshop date. Yarn is not included in the workshop fee.

About the Artist: About the Artist: Stephanie found knitting by accident in 2002 when she came across a knitting book in the staff favorites section of a book store. The book went home with her just so she could solve the puzzle of how two sticks and a piece of string could make cloth. Then she didn’t stop. Knitting became spinning, became weaving. She crafts to explore. Finished items are never the goal. Stephanie now teaches knitting, spinning, weaving, and crochet at Cloverhill Yarn Shop in Catonsville, MD where her joy of figuring out how stuff works is passed on to others.
