COMING SOON – Workshop – Introduction to Dyeing Wool with Acid Dyes, Jun 5, 2027, MORNING

This 3-hour workshop will introduce techniques for dyeing wool using acid dyes. Students will meet in the instructor’s home studio and will use her equipment, dyes, and yarn.

The cost of the workshop covers three skeins of yarn, students’ choice of yarn base (choices are: superwash sock weight, superwash DK, nonsuperwash sock, nonsuperwash DK). Additional skeins may be purchased by students at $10 per skein (up to 3 additional). You can dye different yarn bases, or all the same for a single project – your choice. Students will make their choices ahead of time to ensure availability of choice and so that the yarn can be soaked ahead of time.

Requirements: No prior experience needed. Instructor will provide yarn, dyes, equipment, and one pair of gloves per student. Wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting messy; an apron may be adequate.

About the Artist: Mary Herron is the owner and founder of 29 Bridges Studio, a Maryland-based hand dyed yarn company. Her love of fiber arts began at age five when she learned to knit, sparking a lifelong passion that would eventually lead her to formal study in fiber arts — the foundation on which 29 Bridges Studio was built.

Founded in 2017, the studio has grown into a thriving business with a dedicated team, bringing beautiful hand dyed yarn to fiber lovers through festivals and local yarn stores throughout the country. Years of working with acid dyes have given Mary a deep understanding of color and an appreciation for the craft.

Mary's workshops encourage dyers to experiment, learn, and build confidence at their own pace.
